Madison Construction provided general construction services for the Caroline Hedger Apartments, Chicago Housing Authority’s second largest building. This 450-unit high-rise was fully occupied during renovation. Madison provided ADA-compliant upgrades for the entire building and site improvements include a new parking lot, new lighting and a recreation area. In addition, adaptive re-use construction was performed expanding and fully rehabbing the ground floor. This provided more community & commercial spaces and a larger management office with onsite services. Major renovations also included:

  • New ground-up community center
  • New fire protection sprinkler system
  • Elevator retrofits
  • Central air conditioning system
  • Security cameras and systems
  • Replacement of HVAC & plumbing
  • Exterior facade repairs
  • New roof
  • Interior finishes and appliance upgrades

Additionally, a penthouse attic on top of the main building with a new chiller was added. A new perimeter raceway was added at the roof level to allow the installation of the new 4-pipe heating and cooling system.
